Nederland High School
Class of 1982 - Reunions, Inc.
Latest "25" Info
March 7, 2006 I decided that, with a little over a year until The 25, I'd better get a feel for how much work would be involved in locating lost classmates so I jumped on the phone last weekend and started in the A's. About 1 out of every 5 or so classmates that I actually reached had moved and many of the rest had their number changed or disconnected. It didn't take long for me to realize that I have my work cut out for me again. Finding people is key. If we find them there's a ten or twenty percent chance they'll come to the reunion. If we don't find them, there's almost no chance they'll hear about it and attend. I'm going to be running through the list just to confirm addresses, numbers and emails and when I make it through I'll go back through it again and work to find the ones I had no contact with. Please look over the list of the missing and let me know if you have information on any of these people. I have a call in to the Holidome and am waiting on a list of dates for next summer so that we can decide on one at the first committee meeting. When I get the call back from them I'll try to set up a meeting. Thanks!
August 3, 2006 Made it through the list and confirmed only about 40% but the good news is that, overall, I still have addresses and other contact information on about 85% of the class. When the Holidome called me back they told me that basically any weekend in the summer of 2007 was open so I wasn't in a hurry to set anything up. Now I've got another call in to them and am waiting again. If anyone's interested in attending the first committee meeting, email me and we'll set something up! Are you as excited as I am?!?!
August 13, 2006 Well, we had the 1st Meeting this afternoon and we accomplished alot! We set the date for The 25 and it will take place the weekend of August 3rd, 2007. We also got on the phone and called ALOT of people who were on the Semi-Missing and Missing lists and confirmed some of the addresses and phone numbers. If you see your name on one of these lists or if you see a friend or acquaintance of yours there, email me and give me the scoop! I need accurate information! LOL By the way... If you were called twice or even three times, it's because I have a horrible memory and my notes are just as bad. I can't even remember what I ate for lunch today. Sorry for any inconveniences. :) I'll be updating the lists over the next few days because I have a ton of new information to put into the database.
August 14, 2006 Ok, I worked on the database today and have some new numbers... We have confirmed addresses on about 61% of the class but we still have no information whatsoever on the following people:

August 27, 2006 I sent the following out as an email a couple of days ago and then realized that I don't have alot of your email addresses or that the message might have gotten lost in a bunch of spam filters so I'm posting it here too... Hey Class!
Does anyone have any video or pictures or other memorabilia from back in our day? (Makes me sound old, eh?!) I’m looking for pictures or VHS tapes, maybe even some audio from back in school for a project I’d like to try to put together. Doesn't matter to me if it's some video or pictures your folks took of JUST you. It can be anything from back then. Drill Team, Band, Cheerleaders, Football, Baseball, Choir, Candid stuff, Drama, Birthdays, ANYTHING! If you’re in the Golden Triangle I can make arrangements to pick them up and return them to you. If you’re not in the area, if you could mail them to me, I’ll get them back to you asap. (asap may or may not be very quick but it WILL be!) Email me
October 9, 2006 Dianne Talley Rutledge sent out this email after our recent meeting. I've edited it to exclude some of the kudos she gave me just because I can. lol Jimmy has set up a web-based e-mail for us!! Jimmy said that he has enough
room on the web-server for 500 e mail accounts!!
*****As a precautionary measure***** (to protect your computers and
mine) ALL the subjects coming from me will be started with either
"Personal:" or "Business:" This way, if any e mails come with
attachments from me and they do not have "Personal:" or "Business:" at
the beginning of the subject line, you will know I did not send the e
mail and that you should not open it. =) I use this on all my e mail accounts. I ask that each of you do the
same, so that we can protect each others systems from virus' or worms
that can sometimes attach to e mails from an infected computer. Some of
you have "signatures" or "backgrounds" set into your e mails and this
shows up as an attachment in your e mails and I am very leary of
opening those, although my Norton's is set up to scan e mail before
opening it.
The meeting this past Saturday morning was great. Getting to catch up
with Jimmy, Martha, Kirsten and David Dry was something I enjoyed.
Jimmy has a nice little surprise for us at the reunion to see. Kirsten
is working on some great things for our reunion also. I am going to put
together an announcement for the Community Calendar for KFDM later this
week. It's a free way of advertising that we are getting together for
our reunion. If you see any of our classmates let them know what's
going on and how much we want to see them at the reunion.
I had suggested we try to get some "door prizes" donated by local
businesses and maybe have a "Texas Hold-em" game or other things to do
at the reunion besides music, dancing, drinking and trivia. I want
make this the best reunion yet. (Although I think the 20th was already
the best reunion and it will be almost impossible to beat!) If anyone
has any ideas....shoot em over to Jimmy. After losing another classmate this year, I am hoping
that the rest our classmates will become even closer.
As time goes by (25 years - to be exact!!) and we start to see what our
lives are really about, it is nice to finally see that the "clicks" in
school did not make us who we are today. I am going to make it my
mission to personally hug every single neck at this reunion and finally
get to know all my classmates that I was too blind to see (due to MY OWN
immature tunnel vision) during our school years. Take care! Dianne

TOP 10 REASONS NOT TO MISS YOUR HIGH SCHOOL REUNION
You’ll laugh, cry and reminisce with some of your oldest friends.
You don’t have to lie about your age.
Feel better realizing you are not the only one who has been married, divorced, married, divorced and is still looking.
Of the many alumni coming to their first reunion, make them feel fully appreciated for finally showing up.
Rekindle or begin new relationships.
Even if you had some negative experiences in high school, don't fret about it, you’ll most likely laugh about it now.
Enjoy an evening out without the kids or grandkids, as the case may be.
Use the reunion as an opportunity to diet and shape up.
Humor the committee; they usually are a bunch of deluded diehards who think everyone should show up to appreciate all their efforts.
And finally, studies have shown that those who were initially hesitant about attending their reunions discover it was the event they wouldn't have missed! Ask anyone who attended The 20!
March 27, 2007 Kirsten sent these minutes to me and thought I'd post them to the site for your reading pleasure...
Minutes from March 25, 2007 meeting:
Who attended: Kirsten LaBarbera, Jimmy Quebedeaux, Martha Picazo,
Cheryl Blackburn Carreker, Becky Pleasant, and Desiree Guidry
It was decided at the last meeting that we were going to give this
year's reunion a tropical beach theme, this will keep our decoration
budget very low since we don't have access to the large amount of
decorations we used at last reunion. And, no tar balls and dead fish
allowed. This won't necessarily be a Crystal Beach themed reunion but
I'm sure we will have our own version of The Zoo.
By now most of ya'll should have received one postcard with the date of
the reunion, some information, and the website in which to find more
information and access to ordering your tickets online with a credit
card (it's safe!). We have already begun to accept payment for tickets.
It's always a good idea to save your email receipt since we won't be
mailing out tickets, we will be keeping a list. Just another way to
save money.
In May classmates should begin receiving information packets that will
help us in compiling a memory book. On June 24 we will try to get
together for a 'work day' so that the packets can be put together and
sent out.
If anyone has anything for the memory book to share, please send it to
Kirsten_1964@yahoo.com.
We have scheduled the Friday night social for Dylan's (used to be
Handlebar)in Nederland/Port Arthur however it was brought to the
attention of the committee that out of town guests will be staying
Friday night at the Holidome and it might be convenient for the
travelers to have the Friday night social at the hotel atrium. We would
like to hear from classmates on this issue so that we can resolve it.
If you are interested in a family event on Saturday morning such as a
picnic, etc., please contact Becky Pleasant with your heck
yeah's. Becky's email is BeckTiddle@yahoo.com.
The entertainment, room discounts, ballroom, menu, name tags and memory
book maker have all been scheduled and reserved.
Last but not least....ready, set and go order your tickets!

June 28, 2007 Plans are coming into place and the excitement is growing as Reunion Weekend rapidly approaches. We're hitting the phones to try and drum up a huge attendance for this reunion and we need your help. Remember that friend you had in school who you've, regrettably most likely, grown away from? Call them. See if they're planning to go and if they're not, talk them in to it. The more the merrier! And if you're riding the fence, stop thinking about it and just GO. I promise you WILL NOT regret it!
Response to the Family Day even for Saturday during the day has been close to zero so we're millimeters away from just scratching it unless there's more interest. We don't have any "set in stone" plans for it yet but if someone or a group of someones (lol) wants to step up to the plate like Kathy Soape and her wonderful crew did last time, let me know and we'll talk about it some more...
July 22, 2007 Kirsten decided that, on top of everything ELSE she's got going, she would take it upon herself to get something going for a Saturday Family Event... Here's the email she put together:
Saturday :: August 4 :: 10 - 2 :: weather permitting :: Port Neches Park/River :: BYOB and Ice Chest...and chairs.
This is a last minute, impromptu get-together if you wanna. The
Fitzner-LaBarbera Family will be bringing their ski/wake board boat to
the park for fun, sun, and sports. We have wake boards for adults and
children. We have skis for children, we have wake skates and wake
surfboards. AND, we have a great person that will give you pointers and
lessons if you need them. If you can and want to hang and do the water
thing, it would be great if you can provide your own life jacket. We do
have extras but they're not as cool. I think they're fluorescent
orange. ANYONE ELSE WHO HAVE BOATS, JET SKIS, ETC....bring them along.
It could be a lot of fun. (My brother in law is a paramedic and will be
there!) Look for the gold and black balloons and canopy.
If you're interested, it would be great if you drop me a line and let
me know.
